Before I locked my hair there was a portion of my hair in the back that was heat damaged. Stick straight because of how much I had straightened it with a flat iron. And I was self conscious about the way those locs looked. The loose ends were straight, not curly and full like the locs in the front.
The damage was ugly to me. And noticeable.
But I was talking to my sister today about how the locs in the back are beginning to regain their curl. My exact words to her were that I was “seeing the damage restored.”
It makes me think of that saying “time heals all wounds.”
That is the season that I feel like I am in right now. A season of restoration. A season of healing. Recognizing that the damage does not last forever.
In time damage can be restored too…
