There are times you will find
That the road on which you travel will be smooth or have grooves
Will have deeps and peaks
On the road you will meet people
Who will join the journey
And there will be people you pass along the way
Sometimes you will need to take a break
And that’s okay
Better to rest than grow weary
But always remember as you travel on this road
That even though there are undesirables that occur
Damages that could not be forseen
The glory in the journey is that
You will end up exactly where you are supposed to be
There is a quote from the movie Forrest Gump, where he says, “I don’t know if we each have destiny or if we’re floating accidental like on a breeze, but I think maybe it’s both…maybe both are happening at the same time.”
This is highlighted by the feather in the movie. It seems to be floating around aimlessly until it lands at Forrest’s feet. Yes, though the feather has no control over where it is going, even though it is at the complete whim of the wind, it still lands.
What if that is the reality of destiny?
We know that it is outside of our control, but what if it feels like we are being carried this way and that by the wind? What if we have no idea where we are truly going and why things are the way that they are? Maybe, just maybe, the journey to our destiny feels like confusion and randomness. But the reality is, the wind serves a purpose… without it, how would the feather get to its destination?
An even greater glory, no matter the journey, the reality still lies, there is a destination at which we will arrive. So enjoy the ride…
So God I thank you that before you founded the world, you knew me and you had a plan for me. I thank you that it is your will that I prosper in and receive all that you have planned for me on the journey of my life. Lord help me to submit to your will for my life. I choose you. I choose your plan. I trust you. Help me not to be swayed by the way things look or be deterred by the long road, but just trust that this is all for a purpose and your are faithful to bring me to where you have called me. Lord your word says you are faithful to bring to completion the work that you begin. I rest on this today, and I pray it over those who need it. I pray they receive this. That you use this for your glory. In the name of your Son, Jesus, I pray, Amen.
